Save Time, Water, Energy, And Money With Instant Hot Water!

Having instantly available hot water at the fixture when you reach for the faucet saves you not only time, but water as well.  You don’t have to stand there running water down the drain while you wait.

Lots of folks have fixtures so far away from the water heater that they turn on the hot water and go do something else instead of standing there waiting.  When they return the water is hot.  That means they have been running hot water down the drain.  The energy to heat water is much more expensive than the water itself.  This is a huge waste of energy and contributes to the emission of green house gases as well. An instant hot water system eliminates this waste of course.

Instant hot water systems can even result in cleaner dishes!  The leading cause of dishwasher problems is that the water often is not hot enough to completely dissolve the dishwashing detergent.  By insuring your dishwasher gets hot water you will have sparkling clean dishes.

There are a number of “instant” or “fast” hot water pumping/distribution systems on the market, and it’s important to choose the right system for your particular application. Some use pumps, some rely on thermo-siphoning, and not all systems will work will all types of water heaters.

Some of these systems manufactured by Laing, RedyTemp, and others place a pump and valve combination at the fixture furthest from the water heater.  The system pumps the hot water in a big loop, out of the water heater to the fixture, through the pump, through the cold water piping back to the water heater.  The pumps have very slow pumping rates.  When the valve between the hot and cold water lines detects hot water it closes.  This keeps the water at the valve at about 95 degrees.

The problem with this type of system is that it is really a “luke-warm” system.  Ninety five degrees is below the human body temperature so it actually feels like cool water.  Since you are not starting with cold water and the pipe is full of luke-warm water, it won’t take quite as long for the hot water to reach the fixture, but it certainly is not instant hot water!

The pumping system is cycling on and off constantly all day long, and so it keeps the piping (both hot and cold) full of warmer than ambient temperature water.  This makes the water heater work harder, and uses significantly more energy than a standard plumbing system.  The pumps run for long periods too, so add that energy into the mix.

These systems will not work with tankless water heaters.  Tankless water heaters require usually ½ gallon per minute or more to being flowing through the heater before it will turn on.  The Laing and RedyTemp systems don’t pump enough water to turn on the heaters.

Another type of system puts the pump at the water heater and a valve at the fixture furthest from the water heater.  The pump creates a pressure difference between the hot and cold lines, and so when the valves under the sink open the water flows through into the cold water lines and back to the water heater inlet.  The valves are temperature controlled and close when they detect that 95 degree water. The Grundfos system allows the placement of more than one valve, even one for every fixture if so desired.  Watts makes a similar system but you only get to use one valve at one fixture. These types of systems often include a clock timer with them so you can shut them off when you aren’t going to use them.  It can be a pain when the power goes off and the clock gets screwed up.

Like the previous systems, these systems also keep the hot and cold water lines full of warm water and thus waste tremendous amounts of energy.  As with the previously mentioned pumps, these systems can not be used with tankless water heaters for the same reasons.

If saving water and being energy efficient are important to you then you will want to examine “Demand” hot water systems.  Demand systems deliver hot water rapidly to the fixtures upon demand. When you want hot water you push a button, and the hot water is pumped at high speed to the fixture.  When the hot water reaches the fixture the pump shuts off keeping hot water out of the cold water pipes.  Now you have instant hot water, nothing was run down the drain, and you didn’t waste any heat energy keeping the pipes hot all the time.

Metlund makes a system called a D’mand system with a number of models. They range in price from a little over $330.00 to over $500, and have a number of accessories like using motion detectors to turn on the pump. Metlund’s largest D’mand system will run most tankless water heaters.

Chilipepper Sales has a demand system called the Chilipepper Appliance. The Chilipepper Appliance has the most powerful pump on the market, and will work with any tankless water heater. It will in fact work with any storage type water heater as well.  The Chilipepper is the least expensive of the systems at $180.00.  Since demand systems only run for a few seconds each time they are used, they use very little electricity.  Typical systems use about $1.00 - $2.00 per year in electricity for the pump.

One of the best things about having a demand hot water system is that whenever you use hot water, and you push the button to start the pump, you will feel so darned good about not running all that water down the drain.

Installing A Stained Glass Lamp Above Pool Table

As with any indoor sport you need a sufficient amount of light above a pool table. Pool table lights are often placed at the ceiling above pool table. These lights must be strong enough without hurting the eyes. This way, the players can clearly see the table, as well as the balls. Most pool table tops are deep green, and with poor lighting it is difficult to see anything but the green. Not only that, but a good light over a pool table also adds to the ambiance of the room. So much that people like to add neon lights around the perimeter of the room, in the darker areas, for an added effect. If you want to install a stained glass lamp above your pool table, you should choose a light that has at least four 100-watt light bulbs in it. Modern lamps provide sharp looks and different colors to fit any lifestyle. You should consider height of the ceiling and room capacity when choosing the right lamp. The lamp should provide an adequate amount of light over the entire pool table. Also, the bottom of the light should hang down between 30 and 35 inches from the top of the table. Be aware that this type of lamp is usually heavy because of the thick glass and metal that frames it. You don't want a stained glass lamp to fall down from the ceiling, do you? To avoid this possibility, you'll need to secure the lamp in a special way, as opposed to a light weight lamp. To start with, you'll need to remove any existing light before you proceed. If the light you're installing is a swag stained glass lamp that hangs from a chain on the ceiling, then you'll only have to install a metal hook for the lamp to hang on. To do this securely, you'll need to use a stud finder to locate a stud in the ceiling. You need to locate a stud as close as you can to the spot where you want the stained glass lamp to hang. Mark the found spot, and then use an electric drill to carefully bore a starter hole in the ceiling. Then, insert the metal hook and turn the threads into the ceiling as far as it will go. Finally, hang the swag stained glass lamp up on the hook, and run the decorative chain and wire up and out of the way. On the other hand, if the stained glass lamp needs to be connected to an electrical box above it, then you'll need to install it to an existing one. If no box exists, you'll need to install one. It would be a good idea to check with your local codes and permits department before you begin. You'll need to be aware of what the specific laws are regarding the wiring. And, be sure that the electrical box you install has a stud in the middle of the fixture. Before you start this all, make sure you read and follow the manufacturer's instructions and pictures that came with the electrical box. Then, after you shut off the power to the room you're working in, you'll need to cut a hole in the ceiling for the box to go in. You'll need to run a wire, if there isn't already one, from your breaker or fuse box to the box. Install the stained glass lamp onto the box by attaching the fixture to the electrical box. Use a hickey, which is a metal piece with a hole in the middle of it. The hickey fits over the stud and a nut is placed on it afterwards. It helps to secure the fixture to the electrical box which is secured to the ceiling. Finally, make sure you have everything connected properly, and then turn the electric back on.

Safety & Security: Outwit Vandals With Window Security Films

Window film , also called window tint or Lustalux, is transparent plastic film which is applied to glass windows specifically to reduce heat and radiation from the sun. It is available in many different compositions with varying effects on the optical and mechanical properties of the underlying glass. Because window film is applied to finished glass it is easier to install and less costly than chemically-altered specialty glass. The fastest growing use of window films are by home owners and companies engaged in energy savings, glare reduction, ultra violet protection, heat reduction and retention, safety, security and graphics. Virtually any high-traffic area with windows or other surfaces such as Elevators, Restrooms, Display areas, Architectural elements are vulnerable to costly vandalism. In the case of windows, there's the additional threat of "smash-and-grab" thieves, who rely on fast access through your facility's broken glass to get their job done. Now, one can help foil destructive efforts, with Magnum safety and security tinting. A protective film that helps prevent scribing and other defacing of your base surface, yet one that vandal won't even know is there. If vandals leave their mark, the film can be peeled off and replaced easily, eliminating graffiti-and the need for costly glass replacement. Window Safety/security films are clear laminated polyester films that when bonded to glass, contribute making the complete window stronger. It hinders and slows down smash and grabs burglaries, and during explosions or natural disasters keeps glass together to minimize human injury and destruction. If a window that has had window film applied to it is broken, the film can help prevent the glass from falling into the room. In the event of broke glass, window film will limit injury and damage to people and property. Even if a window breaks, the window film will keep out the weather until the glass can be replaced. The thicker the film the better it is. In fact safety/security films have proven tested standards.

Is Staging My Home Really Worth It?

All statistics show that homes that are well prepared for the market sell at a higher rate and at a higher price than homes that are not show ready. The seller will absolutely gain 100 – 150% of the staging cost back at the sell. Often sellers receive a higher appraisal on a staged home. Appraisers will take into consideration all upgrades made to the property. This includes carpeting, interior/exterior paint, landscaping and even appliances, just to name a few. Does it pay for a seller to go through the work and expense of staging their home prior to the listing? Absolutely it does, as the benefits to the seller are great and it is an absolute “Win-Win” situation for not only the seller but the buyer as well!

All real estate agents will agree that they show and sell staged homes more often than others as the staged home is ready to go for a buyer. A potential buyer will surely remember a home that has been professionally prepared and stat’s show that most return for a second showing that often results in a purchase.

Staging is the process of preparing the home to appeal to a large audience of potential buyers. The home must be ready for the buyer to purchase and move into immediately. Professional Home Stagers use their special techniques to prepare the entire home to show and appeal to all potential buyers. The goal of the “Stager” is Optimum First Impression! Moving Storage Facilities

There are times when long distance moving California companies may have to store your belongings.  This can be an important part of the moving process.  There are several things you should know about moving storage.
Long distance moving California companies may need to store your items when your move-in date is much later than your move-out date from your original residence.  This can happen for a number of reasons.  Perhaps you have sold your home but the home you are moving to is not yet available.  Long distance moving California companies would put your household goods into storage until the move could be completed.
Another instance that long distance moving California companies may put your items in storage is when you have to move abruptly before housing can be found.  This can happen if you have a transfer at your job, or a change of station in the military.  While military moves are often paid for by the government, they may be done by long distance moving California companies companies.
Long distance moving California companies will usually have their own storage facilities to use in such cases.  These storage facilities are geared to the use of a moving company.  They might have a special arrangement with an independent storage facility instead.
You may be able to negotiate a price with long distance moving California companies for your move that includes the storage of your goods, especially if they are not in storage long.  However, keep in mind that everything has to be handled two extra times – once to get it into storage and once to get it back onto the truck.
It is also important to check your insurance carefully.  Find out if your household belongings are covered while they are in storage.  You will be covered for any damages that happen during the usual long distance moving California companies’ services.
Do not forget to consider the storage accommodations of long distance moving California companies when you are evaluating different companies.  You should know if they have their own dedicated storage or are sharing an independent storage facility with others.  It is also important to know what prices you will have to pay for the storage and whether it will cost more to get the insurance you want.

Why I Would Choose Teak Wood For My Patio Furniture

In my twenty years or so of owning a house, I have gone through several patio furniture sets. My first one was a standard picnic table with attached benches made of red cedar. It was functional and cheap and served us well at the time. But it had its drawbacks. Within a month or so the top became very grainy, and later developed deep grooves. Then it started to turn from a pleasant red to an unattractive dark grey. And, of course, it was uncomfortable because of the utilitarian design. The table and benches started moving, and I added a few more bolts. By year three or so I gave up. We had trouble even getting rid of it in the trash.  My second set was made of wrought iron. A beautiful table with a glass top, and some chairs to match. The chairs had a wrought iron lattice and outdoor cushions. Generally this set was far more usable than our first picnic table. The chairs were heavy and a pain to move, but they worked. Then one of the legs on a chair gave way. Now I found that this was much more difficult to fix than a wooden chair.  Around that time, I visited Indonesia and saw some teak furniture at a friends house. Apparently the bench had been in their family for generations. It was somewhat worn and rounded where people constantly sat. It felt good. My friend told me that one had to be careful buying teak, since they now had many qualities. Also he recommended that I buy something in the US itself, because it would cost more than the bench to ship, and he had heard that if the bench was not properly “processed” it would crack in the US. He could not give me more detail, and I did not know what he was talking about. I came back to the US and did some  research on teak. I found that teak is a great wood for outdoor use since it has natural oils that make  it weather and salt water resistant. It also has some natural insect resistance. And it is very tight grained – which means it will not splinter (that is why it is used on the decks of boats). All in all teak seemed to be a great wood for any furniture, but particularly outdoor furniture.  I thought I would buy a teak bench , and went to my local retailer. The prices just floored me. The guy told me that he had some fine brands, and they were all Grade A quality. I decided his teak was a little pricey and started to search on the internet, where  I found a whole range of prices. Confusing.  It turns out that you can get a whole range of grades. Grade A is the best, but you can get Grade B and Grade C teak. Also I learned about the “process” my Indonesian friend had talked about. This is kiln drying. If the teak wood is not properly kiln dried, it will crack.   And I learned about manufacture. You can get cottage industry made teak furniture, or you can get factory made teak furniture. The cottage industry made teak furniture is generally shipped assembled, because the carpenters “make it fit” by compensating for various imperfections during assembly and the wood is not kiln dried at all. The piece is sold fully assembled. The machine made teak furniture generally comes in “flat pack assembly” (which is large sections that need assembly), or in kits. Machine made teak furniture manufacturers offer a better warranty, because they can swap out damaged pieces easily. But machine made teak furniture is more expensive than the cottage industry kind.  So to buy a good piece of teak patio furniture, one should have Grade A teak wood, kiln drying, and machine manufacture.  I narrowed down my search. Even in this category, I found a range of prices. Further research showed that every company’s price depended on a few things. A retailer may  marked up by 100% or more from his wholesale price. So that would be expensive. On the internet stores, I found that there were a few direct importers , and each had their own price point, depending on their mark up, overhead etc.  From all my potential teak patio furniture vendors,  I found that www.Goldenteak.com had the best price for the quality at the time of my purchase. Goldenteak offered Grade A teak furniture that was machine made and kiln dried. They had a good selection of pieces and offered a lifetime warranty. And they were pleasant to deal with.  I have since purchased from Goldenteak, and am very pleased with the quality. But I am more pleased with my choice of teak wood for my patio furniture. I don’t do anything to it. It is easy to move. The chairs are very comfortable. I also enjoy knowing that I am helping the  environment by not using plastic, or even a complex process and paint for my furniture.  I have had my teak furniture for the last twelve years. It has not changed, but I have. I think it will outlast me. My new philosophy – buy once, buy right.

123 Locksmith Los Angeles. La Locksmith Services Lockout, Re Key, Lock Install

Locksmith Directory Los Angeles Locks Picking

We have also expanded our services this year to include on site directory to help your business. Thanks to all our members for your participation and support in helping us to grow. We now can boast a membership of over 300 and it's increasing everyday. Locksmithing began as the science and art of making and defeating locks. A lock is a mechanism that secures buildings, rooms, cabinets, food, or other storage facilities. A key is often used to open a lock. Means of opening a lock often include what you know (a combination), what you have (a key or keycard) or what you are. Locksmithing is one of the earliest forms of security engineering Lock picking was one of the first methods of cracking security systems. Terminology A "smith" of any type is one who shapes metal pieces, often using a forge or mould, into useful objects or to be part of a more complex structure. Locksmithing, as its name implies, is the assembly and designing of locks and their respective keys. Work Although fitting of keys to replace lost keys to automobiles and homes and the changing of keys for homes and businesses to maintain security are still an important part of locksmithing, locksmiths today are primarily involved in the installation of higher quality locksets and the design, implementation and management of keying and key control systems. Most locksmiths also do electronic lock servicing, such as making keys for transponder-equipped vehicles and the implementation and application of access control systems protecting individuals and assets for many large institutions. In terms of physical security, a locksmith's work frequently involves making a determination of the level of risk to an individual or institution and then recommending and implementing appropriate combinations of equipment and policies to create "security layers" which exceed the reasonable gain to an intruder or attacker. The more different security layers are implemented, the more the requirement for additional skills and knowledge and tools to defeat them all. But because each layer comes at an expense to the customer, the application of appropriate levels without exceeding reasonable costs to the customer is often very important and requires a skilled and knowledgeable locksmith to determine. Employment Locksmiths may be commercial (working out of a storefront), mobile (working out of a vehicle), institutional (employed by an institution) or investigational (forensic locksmiths) or may specialize in one aspect of the skill, such as an automotive lock specialist, a master key system specialist or a safe technician. Many (not all) are also security consultants, but not every security consultant has the skills and knowledge of a locksmith. Locksmiths are frequently certified in specific skill areas or to a level of skill within the trade. This is separate from certificates of completion of training courses. In determining skill levels, certifications from manufacturers or locksmith associations are usually more valid criteria than certificates of completion. Some locksmiths decide to call themselves "Master Locksmiths" whether they are fully trained or not, and some training certificates appear quite authoritative. It may be noted, however, that in some countries a particular level of qualification or membership of an organization is required before one can adopt the term Master Locksmith. Locks In the general case, a lock will not keep out an absolutely determined intruder with unlimited resources, skills, knowledge and time. However, even a minimal lock can delay a typical intruder for a time, and the disturbance generated in circumventing a high-quality lock, for example by breaking windows or doors, can deter many attackers, causing them to direct their attacks against weaker targets. When combined with secure containers, or document destruction systems, or electronic access or alarm systems, locks can provide much higher levels of security. Some locksmiths possess these skills, and others form business relationships with companies or individuals with these specialties. Full disclosure' The issue of full disclosure was first raised in the context of locksmithing, in a 19th century controversy regarding whether weaknesses in lock systems should be kept secret in the locksmithing community, or revealed to the public. According to A. C. Hobbs: A commercial, and in some respects a social doubt has been started within the last year or two, whether or not it is right to discuss so openly the security or insecurity of locks. Many well-meaning persons suppose that the discussion respecting the means for baffling the supposed safety of locks offers a premium for dishonesty, by showing others how to be dishonest. This is a fallacy. Rogues are very keen in their profession, and know already much more than we can teach them respecting their several kinds of roguery. Rogues knew a good deal about lock-picking long before locksmiths discussed it among themselves, as they have lately done. If a lock, let it have been made in whatever country, or by whatever maker, is not so inviolable as it has hitherto been deemed to be, surely it is to the interest of honest persons to know this fact, because the dishonest are tolerably certain to apply the knowledge practically; and the spread of the knowledge is necessary to give fair play to those who might suffer by ignorance. It cannot be too earnestly urged that an acquaintance with real facts will, in the end, be better for all parties. Some time ago, when the reading public was alarmed at being told how London milk is adulterated, timid persons deprecated the exposure, on the plea that it would give instructions in the art of adulterating milk; a vain fear, milkmen knew all about it before, whether they practiced it or not; and the exposure only taught purchasers the necessity of a little scrutiny and caution, leaving them to obey this necessity or not, as they pleased. Locksmithing is a traditional trade, and in most countries requires completion of an Apprenticeship. The level of formal education required varies from country to country, from a simple training certificate awarded by an employer, to a full Diploma from an Engineering College (such as in Australia) in addition to time spent working as an apprentice.

A Look At The Revolving Bookcase

They making a come back and are being received extremely well. I'm talking about revolving bookcases, which were very popular in the late 1800s and the early 1900s. The bookcases are mainly made in Eugene, Oregon in the state of Portland. The company that produces them has been making wood shelving systems and shipping all over the world. They can hold an ample number of books which can be in all sizes. They are made in a traditional method where fixed shelves and slots are molded into solid wood side panels and adjustable shelves. There are those magazines and books that take up a lot of space with the fixed shelves of the revolving bookcases. You will therefore find the adjustable shelves helpful because they will hold everything like the following items. * Oversize reference books * Paperbacks * Memorabilia and curios * Computers and laptops * CDs and DVDs When you have the revolving bookcases, you will have an equivalent of a small library in your home. The bookcases are highly versatile and they are also referred to as carousel bookcases. You will find them in a variety of styles and materials. You can store a large number of things. The revolving top section is supported by small castors. You can store many books in the shelves of the revolving section. There are various types of these bookcases and they include the following. * Solid mahogany 3 tier * Exquisite hand carved 2 tier mahogany bookcase * 5 tier library Traditionally revolving bookcases were constructed using high quality wood like oak and mahogany. They will provide a luxurious feel to your home and you will enjoy every minute of their presence. They were made with 2 shelves on each side traditionally. But over the years, revolving bookcases have witnessed great changes in tradition and you have to constantly adapt to the new styles that spice up life. One of the modern aspects of these cases is the fact that they can be stacked up easily and safely. They can also be used as end tables. They are extremely flexible because you can turn one section at a time rather than move the whole structure. One thing that has not changed is the material to create the item which is still wood. Other materials that can be used are hard plastic and metal. Bookcases will be available in many colors and designs which range from contemporary to traditional. They will save a lot of space in your home because they hardly take up a lot. Plus, they will be adding beauty and charm to your room. It is paramount that you take time and search for bookcases that will be right for you. Search through your local store and decide which bookcase you will prefer. House Removals UK

Moving house can be stressful enough with having to pack your items in a safe and secure box, bubble wrap your breakables, and ensure you label each box with what it contains and the room that it is to be placed in. Many people especially if you have a big house, or many items to move, can spend weeks if not months having to get things prepared before moving.
The best way to move house is to do the following:
Before you even think about getting a box and packing it with items, you need to get a pen and paper and make a list. Make a list of all the rooms of your new property, for example kitchen, bathroom, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, garage etc. Then you can label every box that you pack as you go along with the room that it is to go in, and also write a number on the box, and also on your list, and what the box contains. Now this is going to seem like a lot of prep work, however it is going to be worth it when you come to actually moving, loading, and unloading all of your boxes, especially if you have a big house, or many, many boxed full of items.
The idea of having a list of all your boxes, having them numbered, and list what each box contains is to make it a lot easier for you and the London removals company (if your based in London) so that when you arrive, and you are unloading the lorry you and the removals company know exactly what room to put each and every box, and what it contains. The idea of this list is so that you know what boxes are here, and what boxes are missing, or have been placed in another room.
If you are using a professional removals company like Durrants removals then you will receive a very quick, and profession move for your money. Another option is to use a man and van service. A lot of people who live in flats use a man and van service because it a much smaller job compare to a full house removal and it is much cheaper to have a man and van.
